Where can you find water? You might find a water fountain by the bathroom of the closest CVS. During P.E. you can use water from a cooler. You bathe in water. You find it in your refrigerator. You are definitely going to find it in a swimming pool, or a sports game. You even flush it down the toilet! You cook and clean with it. You also fill your water gun and squirt your siblings with it! But have you ever thought of the importance of having fresh, clean water?
In Cambodia, we donated a well to people who need water. These people think of the importance of water everyday. If you do not have clean water, you may get sick and possibly die. If you are sick, you can’t go to school or work. Without education, it is hard to get work or start a job. If you can’t work, you can’t get money, and then you can’t feed your family. Clean water is one of the most important things you need to have in order to have a good life.
After we saw the well we donated, Natalie and I passed out coloring supplies to the kids. They were so happy! Two kids were even playing a game with marbles, using their fingers as slingshots. After that we saw a school. We even sang “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” with the students in the English class. We saw the classrooms. In a way, they were like the ones in St. Stephen’s. They have a map on the wall and a multiplication chart. The school also had a well for the students, unlike St. Stephen’s.
I learned a lot from this experience. Thanks to the Trailblazer Foundation for building the well.
